Accelerating epidemic control in fort portal region

Good Hope Foundation for Rural Development in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation-Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) with funds from USAID is implementing a project on Accelerating epidemic control in fort portal region using the “Bi-directional clinical, community and OVC referrals, linkages and service delivery implementation strategy. We serve a number of OVCs from households with HIV/AIDs back ground and other OVCs in the targeted and we provide them with services including; Economic strengthening, Food security and nutrition education, water, health and sanitation, psychosocial support and basic care and child protection and legal support through follow up and supporting Orphans and other Vulnerable Children to access legal and other health care, supporting sub counties to conduct quarterly SOVC meetings, conducting home based HIV/AIDS Testing and Counseling for Orphans and other Vulnerable Children’s  households with the main goal of improving Well-being of Children and youth orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV and other adversaries in Fort portal region and achieving 95 95 95 global strategy. 

Good hope foundation identifies, assesses and enroll the OVCs on program. We work with caregivers, youths, children, community-based structures, health facilities, health department officials, community department at the sub county and district level. through implementing the program packages that ensure that youth and their Caregivers are Economically Empowered to effectively access core services; Local government increase and improve core services delivery to OVC and their caregivers and also which ensure that there is improved coordination of community based clinical and socioeconomic services for efficiency and effectiveness along the continuum of care.

We do mobilize and training care givers in income generating initiatives and as well as in nutritional supplement initiatives. We also do verification of the most vulnerable households for consumption support including food distribution.

We also do routine home visitations by para social workers and social workers as well as trucking and following up to non-suppressing children and care givers and responding to emergency cases amongst the enrolled households.
